Depends how you define "time travel". To go back to 1960, that would be impossible. But in the (not to distant) future, it will be possible for particles to go back to an earlier time (in the future), maybe eventually humans. I know a physicist, who is studying time travel. The gravitational field created by a laser beam in a tight circular path can distort space as well as time, and can theoretically send particals and information into the past, up to the point that the machine was turned on. He found out that it is theoretically possible.

i have heard of this. the problem is what happens if he sends info bak and changes the past? an alternate reality that we would never know about or it is not possible because we would already know about it (once the machine is built)? according to some scientists analyzing data from the paired photon experiments, events that occur over time simply "happened" and cannot be changed -looking forward or backward). also, time doesnt exist. due to this theory it may be possible to predict the future (if we could analyze all matter precisely in given scenario we can even beat the chaos theory according to brian greene).

ppl do it all the time ...
theory of relativity says that as long as u get some speed, u time travel according to others states

however, since speed of light is extremely fast, the amount u "time travel" is insignificant

i believe that NASA did a calculation of one of their astronauts and found out that he actually "skipped" 1.5seconds or so after spending months and months in space at high speeds

Theres nothing in the laws of nature that says its impossible. If you could somehow enter and escape the event horizon of a black hole, you'd time travel.

if time travel were possible, it could be well concluded that throughout the history of man, travellers would've visited us at some point. since nothing in our history indicates this, time travel is most likely impossible. either that, or mankind has thus far been too boring to have been visited.

Time isn't a physical thing. Time is a measurement for what we expedience daily with the sun going around and around. Therefore you can not go back 10 years in time, because 10 years ago no longer exists.

false, time travels different in space, gravity effects time.

thats why astronauts are from the "future" when they come back...

Link to me to evidence that time travels different in space (I actually want to read this, not mad or anything). From earth, or from hubble, we can see things as they are in the past but ONLY because it takes so much time for light to reach us here. How far into the future have these astronauts gone? >1 second?
