Depends how you define "time travel". To go back to 1960, that would be impossible. But in the (not to distant) future, it will be possible for particles to go back to an earlier time (in the future), maybe eventually humans. I know a physicist, who is studying time travel. The gravitational field created by a laser beam in a tight circular path can distort space as well as time, and can theoretically send particals and information into the past, up to the point that the machine was turned on. He found out that it is theoretically possible.
i have heard of this. the problem is what happens if he sends info bak and changes the past? an alternate reality that we would never know about or it is not possible because we would already know about it (once the machine is built)? according to some scientists analyzing data from the paired photon experiments, events that occur over time simply "happened" and cannot be changed -looking forward or backward). also, time doesnt exist. due to this theory it may be possible to predict the future (if we could analyze all matter precisely in given scenario we can even beat the chaos theory according to brian greene).
