Aliens? Very possible, getting to see them in our lifetime? Not so much.

Well lets hope

Other living things that are as intelligent or more intelligent then us out in the universe

or just living things in general

i believe they absolutely do exist. there is probably all kinds of intelligent life out there, we just dont have the technology to detect it. there could be galactic warfare going on all around us and we wouldnt know it.

to think we are that special, that the whole universe, which we have absolutely no understanding of, has been around for billions of years longer than humans is empty except for us, is rediculous but some believe it.

there are an estimated 400 billion stars in our galaxy alone. multiply that by estimated 125 billion galaxies to get 50,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars. muliply by 9 planets in each (estimated) and you get 450,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 planets or 450 billion billion chances for life out there.

Obviously. We're not the only ones in the whole universe.

no i think this is a probability issue. the idea that we were put here by something intelligent is a whole different topic.

just because its a planet doesn't mean it his able to sustain life on it

obviously it has to have an atmosphere and a climate such as earths.

or its going to be way to hot and burn up or frozen.

uh,

that's what he's saying

we and the earth are here because by chance, enough things went right with matter and physics coming together to produce a planet that we're on today

he's saying there are that many planets meaning they have that many chances, to by chance, become able to support life.

besides, in another universe (yes, there can be more than one) or far far away galaxy, the laws of physics could be completely different, and there need not be things that we need to support life

yep thats the way i see it. the other part is whether that "spark" can happen just anywhere or if it is rare (we have no clue). comets and asteroids carry amino acid strains -possibly where microbial life came from on earth. if this is the case then there is a good chance to find some kind of life out there. think of how many craters the moon has for example (from meteors).
