but poison or disease i think your body cleanses most of it in a similar manner, via marking with antibodies, ingestion by white blood cells then either broken down or expelled from the system

Not exactly. A lot of poisons such as lead, arsenic, mercury, etc build up over time. When they reach a certain amount, they will kill you, but the effects before that are minimal if not present at all.
The reason your body develops antibodies to diseases is that diseases have genetic information to them that can be read, analyzed, and dealt with. Toxins and poisons may be organic, but that doesn't mean they can be broken down any further than they already are. In order for your body to form an immunity to a poison, it would have to be able to either neutralize it or convert it to something else which, in a lost of cases, isn't possible.
You may develop resistance to the
effects of a poison, but you are not invulnerable to it.
