Lol the newest thing i heard nasa was doing was a super computer that will run at the same profomance as 10,000 labtops.

The difference is that Super Computers aren't an innovative thing, they aren't anything that will really advance our every day lives. The kind of numbers those computers crunch are way out of what companies need for daily application -- and perhaps for Nasa it is useful (because damn those stars are far away), but its not really anything (in my opinion) that will progress man kind. Also, just fyi, super computers are just parallel processors... regular old processors; hundreds of them working at the same time -- thats it, its just optimizing programs to take advantage of all those processors at once from there on.
