Ok so i was watching it the other day and they show'd a picture from the hubble telescope of a planet thats like hundreds of thousands of lightyears away and apparently that planet was destroyed like 200 million years ago but we can still see it b/c it takes light longer to reach us. For example If the sun were to stop shining instantly, we wouldnt notice it for 8 minutes, b/c it takes light from the sun to reach the earth 8 minutes. Sooooo technically your looking back in time when you see stuff in space, which just kinda makes you think. sry for the rant just was so amazed at this.

You technically look back in time when you look anywhere, because there is some delay no matter how minute...and that thing you said about the planet is wrong, how would they know its destroyed already if we still see it? Where are they getting this information? I mean light is the fastest thing....It could have been destroyed is what they might have said...but they have no idea until they actually see it happen rofl.gif

Yup. They can predict how much time is left for any star out there. If the number of years left is smaller than the distance in light years, then you know that it's actually dead out there.
