the beginning of the universe is not important at all
the future lies on science

OH SLAM

The beginning of the universe is incredibly important. We learn the past so we can prepare ourselves for the future.

LOL'd at Al Roker option. Ahhhh ...

I was born into religion, in the sense that my father worked as a Padre (Protestant Baptist minister) while doing highly classified work on the side (CCIS, I know he went to the Pentagon, etc) as a military officer. I asked a lot of questions about religion and became an agnostic by around the age of five. In a way, those early years were filled with questions of spirituality, and so it goes without saying that religion massively influenced who I am today, although it's in way mostly because it introduced me to answers to some big questions. I wanted my own answers. To this day, I remain agnostic. My interest in science developed early--about the same time that I became agnostic--and as a math prodigy, I really got into the basic physics of astronomy. I'm still pretty excited about science, but I tend to prefer theory and observation over calculation and precision now (only form the standpoint of my personal activity; I still think science needs to start with the fundamentals, like memory equations and laws). And the reason for that is just that I guess I burned out and got bored with that kind of work. I'm a sort of amateur scientist, because now and then I'll look inot medical journals, physics and math texts, etc.. There's no shame in it, since it's really just taking tools and finding out how they work smile.gif These days, I'm into biology and astronomy, just because they're wildly fascinating. I used to enjoy chemistry, but it's a wee taxing to keep learning it without any major personal benefit smile.gif

Long story short (half my life story included lol), I think religion influenced me more overall, even if I've more or less abandoned it.

but the question asks "which do you believe in?"

if you abandoned it...which means...you don't believe in it anymore?

ok the title question and the poll question is contradicting

Good point. I voted for religion--but I retract. I believe more in science than religion, but both have tremendous historical influence.

From what I know, and I don't know that much about religion, sience got answers to pretty much everything, or at least it's close to findning the answeres. How to creat life for example, my teacher showed my an article where scientists showed how "close" they were to creat a life wth electric pulses going thorugh water containing amino acids and other organic material. Science is more flexible than religion is in most cases since religion already have it written on how the world were created for example, but the sciens can change while new information comes up. The relegion stays the same though smile.gif (Hope you understood my crappy attempt to writing in good English while I'm half-drunk and tired)
