LOL'd at Al Roker option. Ahhhh ...
I was born into religion, in the sense that my father worked as a Padre (Protestant Baptist minister) while doing highly classified work on the side (CCIS, I know he went to the Pentagon, etc) as a military officer. I asked a lot of questions about religion and became an agnostic by around the age of five. In a way, those early years were filled with questions of spirituality, and so it goes without saying that religion massively influenced who I am today, although it's in way mostly because it introduced me to answers to some big questions. I wanted my own answers. To this day, I remain agnostic. My interest in science developed early--about the same time that I became agnostic--and as a math prodigy, I really got into the basic physics of astronomy. I'm still pretty excited about science, but I tend to prefer theory and observation over calculation and precision now (only form the standpoint of my personal activity; I still think science needs to start with the fundamentals, like memory equations and laws). And the reason for that is just that I guess I burned out and got bored with that kind of work. I'm a sort of amateur scientist, because now and then I'll look inot medical journals, physics and math texts, etc.. There's no shame in it, since it's really just taking tools and finding out how they work

These days, I'm into biology and astronomy, just because they're wildly fascinating. I used to enjoy chemistry, but it's a wee taxing to keep learning it without any major personal benefit

Long story short (half my life story included lol), I think religion influenced me more overall, even if I've more or less abandoned it.
