Contrary to what most believe stem cells aren't coming along as many believe they should. In theory they are able to cause many genetic and physical disorders but in reality we do not yet possess the ability to properly differentiate the signals that cause the cells to grow into specific organs. If we injected stem cells into a person now they would develop a teratoma.

But from a political perspective I see no issue with the research, the embryos that would be used are coming from fertility clinics that would have normally been discarded. When a couple wants to have a baby but cannot conceive they use artificial insemination which usually results in dozens of potential babies per couple with only one being ultimately used.

True. Creating new tissue from a clump of cells is definitely farfetched at this point in time. I do think that perhaps if we could harvest cells from parts of the body and see how stem cells respond, we could induce something close to growing organs or at least see how it works and how the stem cells respond. There is substantial evidence to support it repairing areas of the body that need it. Especially with the new theories on using microscopic fiber/thread to lay down the "blueprints" for an arm, skin, or things of that nature.

i was wondering when this would get brought up

Nothing wrong with it as long as we aren't doing it in unethical ways

Exactly.

I think that Goverments are making a big miskae not funding it. If we did fund it we would be soo far ahead.

Definately.

Stem Cell research is the future. Even if some people see it as unethical.

Stem cell research (if it can be used to its full potential) is one of the greatest discoveries of mankind. It is a shame so many people look down upon it. If you really think you are taking a life, consider all of the lives you are saving with its implementation.

I don't support it because humans need shorter life spands and if we could use these stem cells to regrow organs it would mean a longer life for humans and I feel humans are the plague of this world, using materials until it puts them in peril or until they run out.

So you worship the Earth?
What type of person would put the Earth's well-being before his own?

"Humans should all die because they negatively affect the Earth. Without the Earth, how would we live? Oh wait, we're dead."

No but why do humans always feel the need to profit from something?

Hmmmmmm.
Why do we do things to make our living conditions better? Maybe because it is hardwired into every fiber of our existence?
Stem cells would SAVE LIVES and you think we shouldn't save lives because people are jerks?
...fucking Canadians.

You take a life to save a life.

It's not profit.

I would only let the research come from early term abortions and only for those missing limbs or body parts.

No one over the age of 50 would be eligable for it either.

Edit: And being a coward and letting someone die so I can live an easier life isn't hardwired into me.

I live on through my actions, not just a conscient state.

The fetus is already dead. It's not like you're looking around for pregnant women to kill their unborn babies for their stem cells.
That's like refusing to eat a hamburger put in front of you because you don't believe in the killing of innocent animals. It's already dead, why let it die in vain?
