iv been thinking about switching to fiber optic, for my isp recently. but a long time ago, probably two years ago i heard that providers were directly charging customers torrenting fees, for well... torrenting. iv honestly not kept track, never verified it, and havent seen anything about it recently. but i was just curious to any current users how is it?

Just call the company you are considering buying from and ask.

Almost all high speed internets are fibre optic these days, atleast where i live.i highly doubt cable company would charge you fees for something that is illegal.

From a hardware point of view I would say safer. Its harder to tap into a fiber cable.

since forever. Streaming is one thing, however downloading is totally different. If you download your possessing copyright material illegally. Here in Canada Net companies can shut you down and have. Past few years been getting more risky to do that. no different than all those other programs from back in the day which I will not mention, but most should know of what speak.Laws may differ per region for most part of the world it is illegal.

You realize, I hope, that torrenting is just a technology and by itself has nothing to do with copyrighted material. Blizzard uses torrenting to distribute updates to WoW, Diablo, and Starcraft. The UK government and NASA have both released data to the public using torrents. It's just a way to share data among large numbers of peers, your ISP doesn't really care what that data actually is.

some do. your probably right about tech part but we all know what a vast majority of population is using it for hehe.my buddy got a letter in mail from his isp saying if he does not stop his dl they will shut down his net and most likely be legal action.
