Interesting. Makes sense.

I've read a few articles, and alot talk about the age of the Universe and so on.
But I'm not quite informed about such things; are they talking about the Universe that we've discovered and been able to see with our technology, only? Or do they mean everything in existence, even without being able to see it yet?

the finding would apply to the complete instance of the universe we are in, not only the visible part of it
but it would not (necessarily) apply to other instances if multiverse exists

This is normal considering the universe had been consistently expanding since the big bang. This really doesn't matter anyway since the the universe as we know it will ultimately be destroyed when our galaxy collides with Andromeda.

since when is "the universe as we know it" about only 2 galaxies out of billions, participating in a process that hapens all the time?

You're trying to merge 2 separate statements into one. I didn't say space expansion only affects those 2 galaxies. To reiterate:

1. The expansion of space has been occurring since the big bang. This affects all galaxies, not just the 2 I mentioned.

2. Looking up at the sky and seeing less stars really doesn't matter when you consider the bigger picture which is that our galaxy is on a collision course with Andromeda.

“The universe is curling up on the sofa and becoming a couch potato”

Nice analogy. Whoda thunk it, but nothing last forever - even in a universe whose lifespan is billion and billion of years old.

yes something that is not destined to take place for another 4 billion years....whose to say there wont be any other astrological events or even terrestrial that would destroy our galaxy.matter/energy cannot be destroyed just manipulated i guess. so when the universe does reach its end where is all that matter and energy going to go? maybe just be concentrated into another super condensed ball of of energy(not sure what it is exactly made of)which would restart the universe all over again.I read an article long ago saying when that does happen we are all destined to repeat the same life decisions choices etc.
