currently using a htc desire a8181,
feeling comfortable with it, but as time goes by it's kinda wasted, since it's 2 years old now.
i did not inform myself about new products so far, i just know i do not want to get an iphone.
am i able to use my current memory card (micro sd) on any other smartphone which is not an htc? am i able to copy everything i have on my recent one to the new, including apps, contacts and more?(dont wanna lose everything)
im very bad at those things, it might sound stupid but i just did not read myself into all that :( (kinda lazy and did not have to, and there are just so many out there)
so basicly i just wanted to ask you guys about your experiences with the "newer" generation of smartphones,
and maybe give me a "pro tip" on what to get (just a name and/or serial so i can google it up or something, and why you would suggest it, are you using this by yourself?)
gonna use it for general things like phonecalls, surfing, fun apps and such. also the size of it matters a bit, since i do not wanna run arround with a "baseball bat" in my pocket =)

hope this is the right section for a thread like this

thanks in advance

Well, if u don' t want to go over 3.5" the best choice is the Sony Xperia U. No exp memory, but a great price\ performances ratio. I had it for a couple of months, and this device works very well.
Anyway, how much do u want to spent for it?

thanks, gonna get some more infos about it^^ (keep em coming please)
well i don't really care about the price, i just don't want to go for a superexpensive one, so the price/performance ratio matters.

Just back up all of your data with your google account. You won't have to worry about transferring your SD card. The Droid RAZR M (not to be confused with the Droid RAZR maxx) fits very nice in the pocket. It has "edge-to-edge" display which cuts down on the bulkiness of the phone. Most new, high-end android phones are pretty large though.

Also, it depends what carrier you want, or are you going prepaid? IF going prepaid, the LG Nexus 4 is the ONLY way to go. It comes unlocked at only $349 for 16GB version

that's exactly what i want to avoid.
i'm not going for prepaid.
how does that google account backup thing work? you mean i should copy all data from the card to the "google cloud" to redownload it on the new phone? aren't there other ways? bluetooth or w/e, just curious.
i want to read more about your phone of choice, show me some more

Yeah. Your contacts can be saved under google voice. "Google Drive" is an online "cloud" for your data such as pictures and videos. You can use 5GB for free then if you need more there's a fee. But, after you use that 5Gb put the rest in a "Dropbox" account, which is an app in the play store. There are many free "cloud" services you can find. If you're on Verizon, you can use their transfer service to transfer everything you have for free.

MY phone of choice is the LG Nexus 4 from Google. The reason is because I want to go prepaid now, and get away from my contract with Verizon. It's cheaper, and I can cancel anytime I want to go to another carrier. If I was to sign another contract with Verizon, and I cared about the size, I would get the Droid Razr M. It has a 4.3" screen with "edge-to-edge" technology so the bezel is very small. That makes the phone a lot smaller. But, I like large screens, so I would get the new Droid DNA 5" screen 1080p.

It's all a matter of preference. Also, the carrier matters because certain carriers only offer certain phones.

im very bad at those things, it might sound stupid but i just did not read myself into all that :( (kinda lazy and did not have to, and there are just so many out there)
so basicly i just wanted to ask you guys about your experiences with the "newer" generation of smartphones,
and maybe give me a "pro tip" on what to get (just a name and/or serial so i can google it up or something, and why you would suggest it, are you using this by yourself?)
gonna use it for general things like phonecalls, surfing, fun apps and such. also the size of it matters a bit, since i do not wanna run arround with a "baseball bat" in my pocket =)

Go to the store, mess around with a couple of them
A lot of it is personal preference
