Obviously fake. 10 minutes from NY to Tehran? The heat generated due to friction in the atmosphere would melt pretty much anything on Earth at those speeds.

just seems in reach to me, with how fast we are gaining in science way over due for a few break through's ...hence the laws stopping and sharing information on such things is a crime against us all!!!

Even if this case profs to be false you have to know it is possible and most likely how it would be played out

Not fake. They have been working on prototypes of jets, planes and cargo planes that can fly from New York to England in around 30 minutes max for the last few years. Saw this on a show on the History channel a year ago ;)

Here's some perspective:

Vehicles zooming through the atmosphere at Mach 20 experience temperatures in excess of 3,500 degrees Fahrenheit (1,927 degrees Celsius), DARPA officials said — hot enough to melt stainless steel.

Mach 20 is fast enough to get from NYC to Tehran in about half an hour. The OP said 10 minutes, so 3x faster. Mach 60? You're at least tripling the air resistance here, so just imagine how much hotter it would get.

Right?

The facts don't add up here.

Ahah! "Make up your mind!"

iso big deal.

Reaching mach 20 in a controlled environment is predictable to happen one day or another. Making use of it productively is a different story.

I'm wondering how long it takes to go from 0 mi/hr to mach 20 and back to 0.

you dont triple air resistance by going mach 60 vs mach 20

what you actually end up doing is increasing the energy of the shockwaves of the sonic boom by about 10x.

the biggest problem is actually the acceleration. by going 16000+ meters per second at maximum velocity, even say if that were the case, then even with today's limits you can never surpass 15g in acceleration in a pressure suit and even with 15g acceleration you would take 2 minutes to reach max speed and 2 minutes to slow down

and this isnt even considering the materials that you'd have to make the vehicle. It would have to reach over7000C+. keep in mind that space shuttles flying mach 36 at extremely high altitudes "only" experience temperatures of 3000C
