I am thinking of lining the doors and windows with salt to prevent insects from coming inside.
Does this have a chance of being effective?

I'm pretty sure it can kill "some" ant's not all don't know about other insects.

use something spicy like cayenne pepper... also heard baye leaves (or however you spell it) are useful in keeping some insects out.

Probably not the flying ones. They'll still come in and shit on your stuff.

What is this, some voodoo trickery? Insects are not evil spirits. A salt barrier will not keep ants out of your house. Use a home defense sprayer and spray the entire perimeter of your house.

Even if it did stop some, a lot would still get in.
