sooo whats up guys we were argueing at work me and my bro that there isnt any sound in space, my friend thinks there is, but i think there might be but rather in the form of energy? can anyone comment on this, im sure its pretty simple just kinda need an explanation, my reasoning was everything we do creates energy, if i yell its in the form of sound waves that will turn into energy in some way or another and if the world were to explode and shatter into space there would still be that energy from my voice, little but there so in a sense there can be sound in space. or am i totally wrong?

Sound cannot be carried in space, there is nothing to carry the energy wave.

sound is caused by vibration through a medium, in our case its typically air.
electromagnetic waves (that satellites use) do not require a medium to travel through

word, but do sounds contain energy on earth? like if yell does that vibrate into the surroundings, like a transfer of energy?

If I understand the question, yes.
Have you ever heard of people breaking glass with their voice?

all waves carry energy. the reason you hear sound is because the vibration of the air pushes and tugs (ie exerts a force) on the instruments in your ear which you perceive as sound.

Iirc there is, helium has a low enough density where it can escape earths gravity so there should be some very dilute gases around planets. However I could be mistaken
