what can we do to prepare for this?
this would lead to no power, no running water, no food (cause no transportation) and most likely countrywide looting and starvation
I've already started to try to become self-sufficient. My parents are from Laos and they've told a lot of stories. something like this in a 1st world country would be devestating.

Lots of proof, though governments announcing something like this would scare the populous.
Couple off the top of my head;
One from somebody of power, Jimmy Carter, in his 1977 speech over energy conservation.
Saudi Arabia moving to offshore drilling, which costs a lot more, is a sign of slowing production. and if Saudi Arabia is running low, the world definately is.
The movie Collapse by Michael Ruppert has a much more compelling case than I am putting forward, so if interested you could check that out via netflix.

no it's just projected after 2010, because it's costing more and more money + equipment to get the same amount of oil >.< we know the the production will fall, hence peak oil

Reserves of natural gas is why Dick Cheney needed pipelines through Afghanistan, to gather it from the Dauletabad Gas Field.
Running low on oil is why we false flagged Iraq and Afghanistan =/
Actually, the plans were in Cheney's 2000 report! lol I don't know how people can't put 2 + 2 together

that's the problem. oil has unique qualities...hard to replace...
'Nearly everything in our lives is made from oil, made by machinery and systems dependent on oil, and transported by oil as either gas or diesel fuel.'
