e: this doesn't exactly PROVE that it isn't man made either since no one knows what the long term effects might be, and we could see a wholly different trend in 20 years. all you can conclude from it is that current temperatures aren't out of line from past trends. then again it has spiked quite a bit since 1900 even on the graph used...
Regardless of wether global warming is real or not, CO2 DOES trap heat in the atmosphere. That's the whole reason Mars sustains a temperature of -25 -> 0 degrees celsius so far from the Sun. It's atmosphere is 95% CO2
But the small amount of CO2 we put in atmosphere shouldn't heat it much at all. It would take at least 5% to really cause an effect and the CO2 in the atmosphere is currently about 0.08% or something stupidly small like that I read.
