Curious cuz of the thread about variable change. Also because I've been seriously counting since I turned 18 (casinos in washington are 18+). I made $3800 last year counting cards, and thats a sum of all the trips i go to the casino after work, etc to double my paycheck. There was one extreme winter in Oregon last year where we were stuck in snow for a week, and in that week i read just about everything there was on blackjack and trained hard.

I guess my Q is, does anyone here count cards too? or try to use some kind of strategy when you're gambling or playing blackjack?

hard to get caught if they assume you use the hi/lo system. I always start my count off overestimating the high cards that have been played so when it is rich, i KNOW its rich for sure.

Reading Uston's Million Dollar Blackjack, its pretty fucking interesting.

I'm interested in starting to count.

Seems hard to be caught unless you're either:

1) stupid.
2) at a high stakes table.

that movie was SO overrexaggerted, they can't do that anymore. The movie 21 was based on the fictitious novel "Bringing Down the House" which i read a long time ago. Try reading non-fictitious accounts written by real professional counters like Thorp, Uston, Revere, Braun, and Stanford Wong.

edit: but yes i do feel like my life is 21 at times. I basically work at college, and drive 2 hours back to my hometown every weekend. When i get back i hit up the casino with my best friend, and basically double my week's pay, come back for free, get a comp'd meal, etc. plus its fun

Oh, really, you don't get your ass kicked or in some cases shot for counting cards at casinos?
Go count cards at a casino in las vegas for about a month, then report back here on how well it worked out for you...
