I used to use norton, then switched to McAfee because it comes free with comcast but Ive been hearing other things that are said to be better: AVG, Avast Home, etc. What do you guys use?

And for maintenance what do you use? Spybot S&D, Uniblue, Auslogics, CCleaner?

is there a best of them all?

(best?) free:
avast home edition
AVG

(best?) nonfree:
kaspersky
nod32

spyware:
spybot search & destroy(free)
ad-aware(they should have a free version)

norton used to be complete shit, but maybe it's gotten better?

I used Trend Micro Internet Security. Works great on all my computers. It is a paid subscription though.

Free, I would say AVG, easy to use/works well. I found avast confusing, although it may have worked a bit better then AVG.

Heres some must haves.. AVG or AVAST + Malwarebytes + SAS ... And optional.. Root Repeal and rkill

this combination is the ONLY combination that will 100% pick up ALL current known viruses

No such thing as "best," because it's all based on personal opinions (although the database size can give an idea of 'best').
I personally use CCLeaner/RegSeeker on occasion. But usually, I take out my own trash manually 9 times out of 10.

I don't get viruses/worms/trojans/etc. ;)

I run free AVG... The problem is the threats/trojans are only moved to a folder NOT deleted... This option costs money...

I can also recommend Kaspersky

avast, and according to Sketzh so does AVG, only sends the viruses/malware/trojans/whatever to a special folder and doesnt actually fix them. for AVG Sketzh said that you have to buy the non-free version to take care of these, what do you have to do for Avast? Buy the Professional grade?
