so i decided to make some and had a couple questions. i got some ammonium nitrate from some cold packs. im assuming it wont work in prill form. let me know if im wrong. i heard its best to use about 95% AN and 5% AI. is this true? also will a 6.8mm rifle round detonate it? (i think it has about a 2500 fps velocity)

Well, first off, that's not exactly the best way to make tannerite. There are other ingredients that will make it better. I do believe though those 2 should allow it too work, just not as reliable.

Also, yes that is considered a high powered round. It SHOULD be able to detonate the tannerite, IF you make it properly.

Also, don't make too much of this stuff, little amounts do a lot, haha. Get the cook book man. If you know the one i'm talking about.

yea i know there are more ingredients but this is the cheap and easy way i plan on only making about half a lb at the moment to test it out.

i was thinking about floating it on top of a pond. but either way im gonna keep my distance. all i have to do is figure out how to get powder aluminum without having to buy and break open an etchasketch or grinding it down with a file

Well using Tannerite in an attack would not be the greatest idea. It pretty much HAS to be shot in order for it to detonate. Its fairly stable.
