I want to go into some sort of computing program in college...so i figure for senior year (ya im senior) i should learn more about it. Tomorrow i start the first class...3rd trimester ill start the 2nd class. Since my school doesnt offer it i have to go online to do it, and its basically 40% taught by a teacher...and im supposed to figure out the rest.

Any advice on what im getting into?

Dont say google/wiki ;) Kinda want advice from people who write with it

Well thats a good language to get in to. I started with VB, which is useless, and am advancing from there. It would be good after C++ to learn C# and maybe C, both of which have their negatives. Also, java is a good language to go on to after C++.

So, I would say you made a good choice of going into C++. Its used quite a lot.

My advice is kiss your social life good bye, increase your caffeine intake, and start watching star trek.

I say this because you're going to spend your entire college life with the biggest geeks on the planet, it's going to eat your entire social life (what little you have left after you turn into a sad sap loser), and because you'll spend most nights up to 5am trying to figure out how to code shit you don't even care about.

Oh, and you'll need Star Trek to fit in with the only people who we will want to talk to you (losers).

Good luck.

You realise there's a subforum specifically dedicated to C, right?
