Was originally posted in GC, but I am trying to fetch this guy some better answers then 'take them all and OD' here, as I assume he will get them.

I went to Walgreens to get one of my prescriptions filled. They come in 2 mg and 8 mg pills, and I am prescribed 1 x 2mg pill 3 x daily..

they gave me 90 8 mg pills for the month..

to put in perspective, 2mg * 90pills = 180mg/pills

8 * 90 = 720mg/pills

some simple math

720
___ = 4 * 100 = 400% increase in prescribed dosage

180

Some who have certification as pharmaceutical technicians or are in school for pharmacology may know what pill this is by the oblong mg amounts that are distinct to its name, but these pills are worth something on the street and are also VERY controlled- schedule 3 or 4 I believe..

Now.. do you think it would take ME taking the dosage, acting naive, and suffering horrendous uncontrollable vomiting etc for a sue? or is there a case here from there huge overkill

And your opinions on there huge mistake/what you would do/has anything like this happened to you

my attempt is to find the best and most efficient way to sue, which is also a perfectly mature thing to do- they could have possibly killed me if i was not more alert or educated about medications and very particular about them. someone else could easily be dead this very moment after taking such a high dosage.

to try and put it more in perspective, this medicine is bupepronorphine, or subutex as it is known widly;

it is an opiate pain killer. think about this; one mg of subutex is the 'equivalent' to a degree to 20-35 mgs of oxycodone, another widly prescribed pain medication.

if a person with no prior opiate experience took a 8 mg tablet, although the respiratory depression effects are lesser then those of other opiates, it could still likely be conceivable to cause;

stupor/coma
failed respiratory system/death
uncontrollable vomiting, that without being properly treated can cause severe dehydration among other problems
passing out

and an abundance of other problems. it is a serious, serious drug we are talking here. even something like a benzo- xanax or klonopin etc, prescribed 4 times over wouldnt be as serious, unless of course the person was on other drugs that synergize one another and cause the same respiratory and heart rate problems, but the same gos for subutex in that case.

any other opinions?

That's not even close to the LD50 for bupepronorphine. Sounds a little like he's going out of his way to stir shit up.

Maybe not. As far as I'm aware, as long as it's well labeled and the overprescription isn't going to cause serious harm, the customer should be happy with a return. If it was mislabeled and the prescription directions severely overdosed the medication, there's a cause for concern.

In this situation, I wouldn't even waste my time with a lawyer. Even if I was going to win, this is just obvious human error.
