i love stardate! i listen to it when i can on NPR.
heres the best events of may and june from astronomy magazine: (asronomy.com)
May shapes up as a planet observer's dream. Mercury wraps up its finest evening appearance of 2009, Saturn gives us our best view of its rings until year's end, Jupiter passes a single Moon's width from distant Neptune, and brilliant Venus punctuates the morning sky.
June 2009: Mercury and, in particular, Venus put on fine displays as twilight commences. The warm evenings typical of June offer great conditions to show off the solar system's most beautiful planet, Saturn. Go ahead and invite some neighbors over for their first view of the ringed planet through a telescope. Meanwhile, the overnight hours belong to Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
august will bring a spectacular meteor shower, i watched the same one last year and stayed out until we counted 100 shooting stars.
