Descretely "breaking" an lcd tv. I want a new LCD tv, but need to convince the wife we NEED one

I know with old CRT tv's you could just put a powerful magnet on the screen and it would be perma-screwed. is there anything like this for lcds?

and just to dispell the obvious, I dont want to throw something @ the screen. It would be better if it looks like it just 'failed'.

well this sounds like the only technologically sound idea... I still iso more ideas though.

uh..thats just a stupid idea imo... especially at a time like this but imo just make sure you have no warranty on it and then screw around with the wiring inside -- i.e plug them into the wrong place (ofc its potentially dangerous so...) yea -- but either that or partially unscrew the lightbulb and change the color settings on the tv should definitely give it a weird look lol.

i just disconnected the control panel with the buttons on it. worked rather nicely.
