Herpes is a virus, we haven't developed a cure for a virus yet. They're controllable using antiviral meds but there are no known cures for any virus ever. Other than your own immune system I guess

edit: Okay I lied, theres like two antivirals out there that can cure Hep C, but other than that all antivirals work by trying to control the virus not kill it

edit- ya they might be able to destroy the capsid (protein coat to the dna, that would kill it) or edit the binding site, but i don't think thats really an option
