i dont know why.

i installed it fine but when i try to try to run it, a box comes up and says "windows has stopped this program from working" and then it shuts off.

the icon that installs to my desktop doesnt have a compatibility tabs for me to set to run in xp nor does it have a run as admin tab.

when i go into the main folder and bring a shortcut of the .exe to my desktop, it tells me to insert the correct disk and restart.

it only came with 1 disc.

any suggestions?

Can your computer run it?

Try running in compatibility for windows 2000.

Then if that doesn't work. Let me know.

it makes it to the "start game" page, but after i hit start game, it says loading, then the message box pops up and says windows has stopped this program from working.

then it asks if i want to check online for a solution. i cant get internet with my laptop atm, so i choose no, and it closes out.

the icon that installed to my desktop does not have a "compatibility tab" so i cant set it to run in anything but w/e it normally runs in nor does it have an option when i right click it to run as admin.

Try a no dvd patch.

What os are you running?

i do not have internet on the computer that i dl'd gears on. ive said this enough times.

I remember having the same problems when I ran gears.

I can't remember whether I needed a hotfix or a no dvd patch

Either way I had to access the internet.

If memory serves.

when you finish installing it, does it auto-update anything like diablo does?

im thinking that may be my problem.
