8 shots = 1 clip. Meaning no reloading off the bat, meaning no actives from the start, and it's more "hardcore" than having infinite ammo.
More range meaning Gears 1 distance. Gears 2 distance is a bit absurd, so a mix between 2 and 3 would be more like 1.

Shotty only duels was so gay i ended up using snub/meatshield.

If you wanted to use the shotgun, you had to land around 3 shots vs a decent player. And the unlimited ammo made this even worse.
I though it would be epic..

And gears 1 shotgun had the shortest range out of the 3 games...

It shouldt have anything to do about the range. Thats why its a shotty duel, not hammer or snipe.
I would have to be no more than 3 body´s ahead. I agree, only with the starting clip and thats it. Infinite ammo only means noobs active recharging all the time.
Takes away all the strategy in it. You can just camp and bleed all the poor suckers out.
And if thats what everone is doing, better take out the snub, imo. Lame event is lame.

I see videos of kids hitting opponents (AKA their guest controller for testing) with all 16 shots from a distance that the G1 Gnasher would down them at least, that doesn't do it in G3.
There isn't a HUGE difference, but I feel like G1>G3
