i find the mlg players for gears are less skillful than say a game like halo, as you cant really "4 shot" someone across the map, and the majority of shotgun fights are hard aims because well they play on lan. the reason why you win games in gears is because you are good as a team, and are good/smart with all the weapons. Not saying that isnt true for halo, but gears is more of a numbers game i find. W/e gears is boring to watch in mlg and is usually just one big lancer fight to control power weapons.
It's easier to clutch in Gears 2 then it is in Halo 3.
Gears 2 is lame. Your bound to 1 weapon as a team, and its lancer. You just have to hold down the weapon and have good aiming, preferably the head.
Rarely do you find a mlg pro game where Lancer isn't the main weapon used, whereas for halo 3, Sniper changes the game, overshield changes the game, rockets changes the game, mauler changes the game.
Gears 2, Lancer IS the game. If you have a team that is ridiculously strong in teamwork, all it takes is Lancer. You don't need boomshot, you don't need torque. If your lancer as a team is good, what makes you think the chances of the other team of getting the boomshot/torque is good? Lancer is teamwork, shotgun is clutch. That's all it takes, boomshot and torque's are just side weapons that enhances your chances of winning, its not needed.
