is iron golem the way to go?

If so, is maxing mastery and 1 point into Iron a good idea? was planning to make insight iron golem and use obedience on merc.

I always try and max mastery but only when ive maxed my main skills golem mastery last to level ill invest 1 point into clay and iron.
