Ok guys I’ve been playing this game forever but I’m still unsure of which skills to max after blizz and fireball. Ice blast is a good untimed skill and synergies blizz, while fireball is a great untimed skill that meteor synergies. The damage % that meteor gives to fireball is higher than the damage % that ice blast gives to blizz, so do I max fb and meteor, or do I max fire mastery? And how many HARD points do I put into cold mastery? All opinions welcome!

you don't mix fb and blizz at all. go fb/orb or hydra/orb if you're looking for a hybrid build

Why orb? The damage is significantly less than blizz. Not arguing just asking. And what about masteries? Do I max meteor and fire mast?

blizz has 3 synergies + mastery
fb has 2 synergies + mastery

that's 9 skills you would ideally want to put 20 points into. doesn't add up
so you're either gonna end up a bad blizz sorc with miniscule fire dmg, or a bad fire sorc with miniscule blizz dmg.

blizzard won't do more dmg than orb if all you have is 30 skill points to spare.

tldr: it makes more sense to go full blizz with static and a strong merc, like everyone else does, or to make a hybrid orb/fire sorc

Okay. So if I do the hybrid orb/fire, which synergies do I choose and how many points do I put into each mastery?

I’m reading on all the common types of builds and it says the Blizzball (blizzard and fireball) is most effective against all types so I’m confused as to why it’s not the way to go…?

None of any of this… just roll blizz and get a life tap wand. Gg yw. I guess if you really wanted to waste points into a fire and ice build you could go blizz meteor. But not fire ball and certainly not fo.
