I have 2 armors and i cant decide where i should make my enigma in:

Mageplate 13 ed (296 def)
Archon plate 502 ed

I see alot of people using mageplate for the lower str req, but isnt a higher defense alot better?

I will use the armor for my new necromancer, but will probably switch it for other chars too like a javazone or something

for pvm i would say the less str req the better

yes its for pvm. Why is it better then?

because def is secondary in pvm and less strength = more life

because 500 more def or so won't have a huge impact, whereas 50 stat points will.

U pick the highest combo def/strenght req u can use without statting points into strenght.

Base + torch + anni + amu + rings = strenght req for your enigma.

One thing to consider is the mageplate with enhanced defense mod will cost 200k or more gold per repair whereas the AP might only cost a few thousand. I like to make my pvm enigma and other runewords in non-superior bases for that reason

def doesn't really matter unless you have a build that uses def multipliers.

Arcon plate mostly use for end game pvp with high roll top tier gear with str on ammy and rings so you don’t have to put points into str
