Hi there, quick question about pvping against a cold/fire/lite damage that has -res% (facets / cold mastery etc) - clarifying the calculation on it:

Is it beneficial to have additional resists even when you're at 75% resist of any given element to at least partly negate -res% modifiers?
I'm not talking about having +max resists like from guardian angel...

Example:
I have items / skills that would put me at 150% cold resist, but of course the cap instead leaves me at 75% cold resist.
If I duel a cold sorc with -100% enemy cold res (via cold mastery + facets), would my cold resist vs her essentially become 50% (150% - 100 = 50), or -25% (75 - 100 = -25)?

Thanks in advance?

Hi,

With real numbers its more like this:
150cr - 100(hell) - 250(cold pierce) = -200 which is capped at -100.

You would need a total of 425 cold res to fully stack a typical pvp blizz sorc in hell. My sorc on d2lod battle net had -270 enemy cr.

Pure Foh is typical:
-150 conv, -25 griffon, -25 scepter, -20 jmod, -20 jewelers armor.
Aka ranging between -200 and -240.
So you would need around 415 lr vs those.

So high stacks are not needed though and a bit bm in combi wirh 1 abs item such as raven/wisp/tg.
