I'm looking for a non MF classic D2 barb guide.

so basically a classic WW barb guide

classic as in old school? Big Sword and Shield Barb! the original cookie cutter pvp barb. i remember how to make one and i play one now. they are good pub duelers on console because how imprecise teleport is. they are almost a bvb but better at pvm. they are the cheapest pvp barb too.

for sword your best options are grief zweihander ias bp is low or grief colossus blade ias bp is 75. grief colossus sword works ias bp 89. ebotd might be viable too. 09 best in slot fury balrog blade. you need to use big swords for pvp because they have more range. that is very important vs pallies and other barbs.
Stormshield is your shield. you can use a phoenix but it's no good vs other barbs and if you are that rich you should make a BvC instead.
Armor = fort. you can use an enigma, but you should spec out your stats with a fort. this is a semi budget nostalgia build. enigma is kind of cheating. you won't need one on console either. 09=valor.
rings = 2xravens for dueling use the dex to spec max block with ss
ammy=highlords you need that deadly strike. the ias too now.
boots=gores
belt=dungo 09=soe will still work.
gloves=dracs if sword is zweihander. if cb ias blood gloves. if cs you are only getting 5 frames so whatever might as well use rends. 09=lavagout
helm-arreats you are giving up a lot of stat points if you use something else.

stats
strength = enough to use your sword without the stormshield.
dex = enough to max block with 2x ravens.
vit= rest

skills
max ww
max bo
max blade mastery
max iron skin instead of shout. adds the same defense and it's permanent. it helps when you get bm attacked by physical damage without your warcrys.
1 to nat res
1 to run/walk speed
1 to double throw
1 to throw mastery
1 to taunt

why double throw
javelin were the most common wc weapons in 09. they were also used as a harassment tool. that works even better now with the damage from fortitude and venom from grief.

why taunt
taunt is very useful in pvm. it helps to keep your merc alive. it helps in teams. this barb is a tank. you can stand in the middle of a bunch of cows taunting them so that squishy high dps characters can kill them safely.
it is also useful to annoy opponents in pvp.

that's the way it was taught to me and i think i modernized it correctly.

i suppose by "classic" OP meant classic as in D2LoD , so no grief 'n stuff

oh. hmm well dang. i did put 09 options in the guide. you can use doombringer or gf instead of fury

I did mean classic as in not LOD. I'm playing non LoD 1.14d D2 classic

Thanks for taking the time it type that build out but in classic there is no runes, jewels, charms, Exceptional or Elite uniques, no Elite items at all, no LoD sets and very limited unique rings and ammys. I don't think I can even get one item listed in that build.

there was a classic barb topic some time ago, iirc the recommended weapon was a (high dmg high ar, obv) martel. rest of items is complementary I guess...
cbf is not necessary for ww, same with fhr (at least pvm). So the items should be chosen towards I think, but at this point I have to low knowledge about classic mode (I only build one sorc for rushing), so I leave it to the dedicated classic players for the details

Imo for classic barb ww

Martel with max ed and max dmg, will be nice if martel has +2 sk ar ias -xx req
Chest: ornate with max ed (90 -100 ) with fhr life str dual ress ( like fire light)
Helm: grim helm with fhr %ar life dual res
Boots can be a battle or war with high ed frw and res
Gauntle battle or war too. There looking for ml or ll str ar and res
Belt battle or demon with str life dual res with ed if battle
Rings and amu have u many choices like:

1: angelical combo 1 amu + 1 ring
Rare ring str ar min max life res ml or ll (depends on gloves)

2: baba sk amu with best mods possible
Rare rings ll ml str life ress

Is not cheap build correctly a nice baba ww in classic

If u cant afford a nice martel also can wear bonesnap high ed possible ( works slow, but works )


Thinkking on chest, helm and martel u can make a sox into it. Putting a perfect gems depends on u needs ( if str or life ) also can put ameth if u ar is low on martel

Tarn
Angelic armor, amulet, ring
Rare ring with mana leech,
Sig gloves, belt, boots
Bonesnap/mart.
