I barely played barb before, maybe zerker at one point. Currently leveling a barb to mess around with on this ladder. My main question is how does the dual wield affect stuff. I've heard wielding 2 griefs has no more effect than wielding 1. That could be way wrong though. What would the best 2 weapons to wild be? I plan on whirlwind and horking. Any gear/build that you pro barb players recommend?

My zerker used grief and stormshield for blocking but I see many whirlwinders not use a shield.

Tldr: asking for tips and stuff for whirlwind horker.

you can use a shield that is a very common way to make a ww barb. it's just going to clear things slower. using a ss and grief is how i would make a ww/berserk hybrid. i'm not sure exactly on how the damage works with Grief. i think what you said is kind of true. the way i understand it, is that you really need to be using a fort with 2x griefs for the best dps. if you use enigma grief/beast grief/lastwish grief/phoenix shield are as good, almost as good, or better as 2x griefs. 1 grief will do less damage than 2 though.

So, it depends. If you want to be safe and play solo only, so grief + ss is the best choice. But if you want kill everything (solo terror zone on 8ppl), best choice is ba grief + ba ebotd, or if you do not want repair your grief per session, just use this setup in swords.
Some guys prefer death + grief. But i prefer ebotd coz more supportative (has a lot of ll, ml, stats and additional dmg to undeads, 60ias = really good support for grief with a lot of dmg).
But this season i tried new setup grief pb + azurewrath (el socketed, or you can socket it with ber ). And I wanna say, that is was really cool, azurewrath has a lot of magical dmg and also has sanctuary aura (i call this aura - fuck off knights on might and fanatizm).
Also azurewrath help you easily kill phys immuns without any stuff (rapture charm, decripify, berserk etc). Elite pack of souls was killed by 1 ww, pb + azurewrath is really crazy experimental setup

grief + ss is a terrible choice
use 2x grief and get life leech for survivabilty

Not almost as good.
Not better than.
2x grief > all above mentioned.

as far as i know this was settled 15 years ago and Grief/beast was what everyone said did the most damage. people use 2x griefs because they don't like to repair, and you didn't use to be able to hit max ww speed with a last wish. grief's damage is calculated as base damage. if you don't use fort you only get enhanced damage % from skills. so griefx2 = 400x3+400x3. grief/beast = 400x6+beast damage. this is the way i understand it to work. i could be wrong.

thanks for the awesome information guys. I was using grief and spirit sword at trav last night and a few other places and I think I just suck at aiming the whirlwind because i was barely killing at all.
I already respecd into pure berserk lol I might go back to whirlwind in the future (I was basically tired from work and got lowkey mad at myself for missing my whirlwinds lol)
Im using grief and an anni and torch and shako and highlords basically all the usual but I'm thinking of putting my chains of honor on and swapping shako for maybe an isted arreats face and possibly a stormshield and trang belt. basically just gonna throw shit at the wall until it feels like I'm clearing trav relatively easy without taking too much damage. a few times the cold damage from spirit sword shattered a body that's why I was thinking of using a shield.

any other offhand yall can think of that doesnt cost a ton that would be better than stormshield? also using a dwarf star and bk ring.
maybe tips on merc as well? using a might one right now.
