Has anyone been able to test classic blizzard vs frozen orb since the update? Orb seems to use considerably less points into the cold skill tree & allows you to put some points into ES & Telekinesis for some better survivability. I've used all my respecs and want to know if it's worth getting a token to switch to orb if it seems to have any advantages now

To me, Frozen Orb is more fun and works great vs lots of weaker enemies, but its not strong enough for 3+ player game. If all you play is single-player, it will do just fine.
Ice Blast + Blizzard can carry an 8-player game (or do ubers with the sunder charm) and takes some getting used to, plus you have a few points left over to put into telekinesis/es (I suggest making Memory in a +3 ES staff and only spending points on Telekinesis). Its old, its reliable, its a bit boring.

I have been experimenting with a hybrid of both and I think it might be the sweet spot. You will not do as much damage as pure blizzard build above, but you will have frozen orb and the combination of weaker blizzard and max power frozen orb is pretty decent. For my build, I maxed Frozen Orb, Blizzard, Ice Bolt, Ice Blast, lots of points into mastery (I think at least to -150%), then add your 1pt wonders (static/telekinesis/teleport/frozen armor). If you have points left over, you can dump them into Glacial Spike for general blizzard damage boost or Mastery to kill immunes faster. Might be some tweaking required, but thats the general idea.

I had a hybrid orber and it didn't nearly hit anywhere near as hard as the Blizzard Sorc.
