I saw some streamers showcase the new fire druid. I must say I’m kinda impressed. The build seems pretty legit even at 5-7 player games. Speed is slower than sorceress and other cookie cutter builds but you trade efficiency for safety. The build has an army of summons to tank and life is higher than other casters because of oak sage. Check out MacroBoiBoi’s youtube video… he used an act 3 lightning merc too - bit unorthodox but I like.
Best part is you don’t need a sunder charm. Many of the fire skills cause physical damage so you can deal with fire immunes without issues. So unlike other caster builds, you don’t have to live dangerously with negative resists. Also because of how the synergies of druid summon works, you don’t need hard points for the summons, with +skills, they naturally become 1 point wonders. With the right equipment, you can get +17 skills in all the summons. Your grizzly is near invincible at that level. Put those points in the fire skills instead which are more dependent on hard point synergies.
It really seems like a refreshing way to play. Many of the current metas require you to get a sunder charm and then load the char up with minus resists. This build instead max +skills and can make do with less expensive eq. Somewhat a safe build too which is appealing to me since I play HC. Damage output may not be the best but by cycling through all the fire skills, he seems to hold his own.
I'm leveling an SSF right now. Will let you know how it goes. Poison creeper is so amazing in normal. No mana issues and kills everything so fast. I'm going to respec to fire once I get to nightmare.
This is what I’m playing this ladder. Clear speed is very fast. With teleport, I can clear much faster than my blizz sorcs in the past.
Most importantly, it’s really fun. You have a lot of useful skills with different utility so playing feels engaging.
Or if you’re feeling lazy you can just fissure everything.
