Would using a magic sunder charm on a hammerdin for solo baal be worth it? which monsters do magic damage where i might have to worry?

No, use reaper's toll might merc for solo baal runs imo. Even an insight merc would probably out dps magic sunder hammers vs magic immunes.

Using smite with 1 point fanaticism out damages hammers with sunder vs previous immune monsters.

Magic sunder charm is useless

Magic sunder charm might become useful in a future patch if they add a decent minus magic res runeword. I agree with you right now though.
