I am rusty af classic wise so would probably be somewhat off here but heres what best classic gear for sorc would look like:
Helm: fhr//double res/energy/life low str req helm socketd with pruby
Weapon 1: Shard (fcr/res/mana) self explanatory
Ammy: 2 sorc/str/life/mana/res ammy the more of those mods the better (you don't need fcr on ammy as magefists+shard will give u your 63fcr bp)
Rings: 2x soj
Belt: fhr/str/mana/life/res belt
Boots: Best would be double res/30 frw and as close as possible to 40 mana rare boots
Shield: Prism fhr/increased block/faster block/other good mods grim shield socketed with Pdiamond For ultra rich can get 2 of those shields and have one for general use pdia and one for svs with psapphire
Armor: Fhr/life/mana/str/res combination of mods armor socketed with pruby
Gloves: Mages
Overall need 63fcr/60fhr bps
Also pvp wise there are no "viable" lightning chars in classic really except for zon which is pvm class as it shouldn't catch up to you.
There are no mercs in classic
Also 5blizz 20fct staff swap for dmg could be viable but mostly its not needed as you then have to compensate fcr with rare rings/ammy, in classic theres no real difference between best pvm or best pvp gear its mostly the same stuff you will be using on a top geared char.
