I've read some of the older topics about what works and what doesnt work with smite so my question is specific to two pieces of gear namely HOZ and Phoenix Starge with Knights Mod.

I understand that the following add to smite damage - STR, non weap ed, shield base damage and + skills.


So with an upped hoz (zakarum base) with the +4 skills to smite and +20 str do more damage than a phoenix starge with a 441 ed roll?

based on my research 1str = 1%ed. so that looks like 20%ed and 4 skills VS 441ed. i kind of feel that the phx is better

Phoenox always did more damage, but in og d2, the firestorm proc would stop your smites, now in d2r it doesnt

Pheonix is great. U get free charge damage as well!

2 pc = like 4 base dmg + 30% ed
2 pala = 64% ed, 4 base damage
20 str = 20% ed.

Sum:
8-16 base dmg
114% ed

Pheonix:
465% ed if perf knight mod

Okay:
Grief 400 dmg
Sacred targe (22+70)/2 = 46 average

Lets assume:
Coa, arach, grief, 2/20 ammu, eni, 9 pc skillers, torch annnie, cta bc cast.
11 pala skills and 9 pc skills.
174 str

Pheonix 465ed:
Lvl 31 fana 560 ed
Holy shield: 138,5 average base dmg
Smite 600% ed

(400+46+138,5) * (1+((465+174+560+600)/100)) = 11099

Zaka:
46 average dmg too.

(400+146,5+46) * (1+((194+594+660)/100)) = 9171
