why is it when my infinity breaks the immune, i can still BARELY do any damage to them? i do 3500 nova sorc damage with over the 105% fcr breakpoint. i can melt alot of monsters, but when my infinity breaks their immune, i still am only taking like 5% of the their hp per hit, if that... why?

are you wielding infinity yourself? or is your merc holding the infy?

conviction works at 1/5 effectiveness against immune monsters, that means instead of -85% res it does only apply -17% res. a monster with for example 110 lr will still have 93 lr, with blocks a lot of your dmg. you have to accumulate as much -lr as possible to further reduce the enemy's res in order to deal with broken light immunes, this means using griffons/lightning facets/etc. also keep in mind that -res on an item only works for the char equipping it: if your Mercedes wields the infy then you only get the conviction aura, but not the effect of -45 to -55 lr!

And wield the infinity yourself.

you have too little - enemy resistance on your gear. light and nova sorcs shouldn't gear up to have high character screen damage, they should gear up to have high damage to broken immunes. everything else dies instantly anyway

using hoto or eschuta? swap for infinity (use insight merc) or cmoon (use infy merc)
invest in a griffon if you haven't already

Conviction works at a 1/5 rate vs immunes. After that ur -55 is applied to full. So solution is simple: carry infi urself

i am on single player, i just built my infinity, i dont have griffins yet, was hoping it would be fine without griffins, if i had infinity on merc. Would it be better to use chain lightning/lightning instead of nova? or would it still barely do any damage to the immunes that my infinity breaks? Should i just go back to blizz sorc? just feel infinity would be a waste if i went back cold lol

yes. nova is a bit more gear dependent than a standard light sorc.

cheap and effective no griffon light sorc build:

wep: crescent moon
shield: spirit
helm: tschako
armor: viper
gloves: mages
boots: anything - silkweaves if you need mana
belt: arach

you'll need at least 17 fcr from your rings + amu. one fcr ring and a 7+ fcr amu gets you to the 117 fcr bp.

105 fcr for tele, 117 fcr for lightning/chain lightning
