I have a friend who is new to the game who is making their first char and they went with a Sorc. They obviously don't have high-end gear, so that's why I'm here to ask what the best build would be for them to help them along until they find some gg gear?

I was thinking a blizz sorc, but I also haven't played a Sorc under 2.4. Are there other recommendations?

You could use like ~300 of your FG and get them proper gear . Shako+vmagi+2x spirits+whatever is easy to buy and cheap. Full Tal Rasha is another awesome starter/end game set.

I'd suggest fireball/orb build for a new sorc though. You can run mephisto with the moat trick all day. Slowly but surely lol.

blizz can clear hell without gear. that's the way to go

Depends what their intentions are. If they are new to the game, I suggest playing through it.

Go fireball till ~35, then respec to Orb/Hydra until they beat the game.
Gear: spirit/ancients pledge/ lore/stealth. The rest doesn’t matter much.

Afterwards, they can respec to blizz to mf, or beat the game on a different toon.

In fact she can't, since Seis and 1 ancient are immune to cold

And merc with trash gear is unable to kill them.

You'll need help from other people or farm and xp alot to gear the merc

if they new, id do a playthrough with them personally.

dont want them to play and immediately get into the grind. rather then learn the game and fuck up a little bit along the way with some pointers. much more fun that way

You get the gear to do it with a merc=> she can. I did, other people did.

Fb/orb is the way.
