I am specifically considering whether my Act 5 frenzy merc should wear a 4 fire facet (-20 resist) armor or could it be beneficial to use Spirit Forge a unique armor which has 2 sockets (-10 resist with facets) and adds 20-65 fire damage.

Anyone know how the enchant damage calculation works? Would just like to get an idea of what another +30 base fire damage would do to my max damage.

to get this right: you want to equip your merc with fire facets to enhance your chars dmg? or to enhance your mercs dmg?
in the first case this wont work at all, because -res is only applied for the char wielding the item. in the second case it would increase the dmg, but i am not sure if it is worth adding that fire dmg instead of physical dmg

Fire facets will lower resist of monsters. The Merc will be enchanted, thus will do fire damage. I am wondering how much more fire damage would be potentially do with more base fire damage

Yes, if you have enchanted him with much dmg it will help.
But a full prepped pure enchant sorc will give him like 6k dmg, and then 6000*0,10 = 6600... So no it is not worth it... Even a rattlecage would spit out more dmg...

Full prepped enchant sorc is:
6enchant/6fire mastery/2 facet orb
Spirit
3 ench ormus 20%
2 sojs/bk
magefists
arach
3fire ammu
3fire helm with 2 facets
9 fire skillers
torch
annie

That will give him aboutly 6k dmg, even though in ur screen it says 36k or smt... This is due to firemastery and facet would multiply twice on you... It wont on him, for him it would only get the %bonus benefit from you once, then multiply with his facet %....

If ur a fireballer, with some enchant he most likekly will get like 2k fire dmg or even way less.

This is probably the way to go.

I think the facets do work, but it might not be that much damage compared to ias/Ed jewels (if they allow u to reach a new ias breakpoint).
I did consider putting facets to my bowazon (I run a 2 account set up and multi shot is significantly buffed with a high level enchant), but came to realise that I need the jeweL slots for a ias breakpoint)

Let me know how it turns out
