I was thinking it is pointless to raise past -100% res cuz it doesnt remove immunitys. is that true? also what if u have an item with - cold res? is 100 all u need? rn i have 3 facets so -15%. should i raise cold mastery only to -85%? or do i still want to get it to 100%?
Ive heard u want 125% im not sure. and should i get 105% with the 3 facets adding -15%?

No. There's thing called negative resistance which is capped -100%

There is no reason to ever raise it above -200 res.
As if an enemy got 99cr, he will end at -100 with that, if ur total negative res is only -100, then he will end at 0res.
And between 0 and -100 damage dealth is doubled.
Monsters above 100 will remain immune..

Ofc im not sure what all monsters have of res... But im pretty sure there would be many between the range of 50 to 80 res and then it would help great.

In ur case ur damage is maxed at -185 from cold mastery.

Most non-immune monsters are anywhere from 50-75 cold res, but the more points you put into Cold Mastery the less actual damage you get from synergies. Hard points also get quickly wasted when you start putting in +skills and -res from facets, since those all easily contribute to the ideal range of -150-175. The ideal total points you'll see people go for is a total of 27 points into Cold Mastery with gear and Facets included in your total -Res.

Only in PvP does -Res matter, because people will sorb you if they know you're a Cold Sorc.

I like Ice Blast because the damage is actually pretty decent. Glacial Spike freezes targets, but the damage is trash. Ice Bolt is just a worse version of Ice Blast, so never use that.

You can also use Frozen Orb with Ice Blast if your gear is good enough. If you're able to get enough +skills and Facets, you can reallocate those points into Frozen Orb. Even a cheap Sorc can make use of it and be effective. Just takes a lot more energy to spam 3 skills in order, but it's worth it imo.

Also fun fact, instead of buying a 3 Blizz Ormus for dps, you can often buy an Ice Blast one for a lot cheaper for essentially the same benefit. Ice Blast can do like 4k cold damage, plus then with Mastery you're hitting like 8-9k. Since Ice Blast isn't locked on the cast delay, your single target damage will offset the AoE increase from a Blizzard Ormus.

Yes, but im simple. I max syntenergies first with 1 point cold mastery meanwhile.
Not the most effective way maby, but i dont have to think meanwhile xD

Yes, however my es pvp sorc has ice blast dmg of way more than 4k, and that one dont even use NW or Ormus. So im sure u can reach 7-9k iceblast fairly well.
