If you're shooting for a basic PvM build, 85 FCR with 3 piece Trang (shield, belt, glove) and Enigma is fine.

Otherwise Spirit, 5 Nova Head with 2os Facets, Splendor with 4 Nova, or Darkforce Spawn Faceted depending on if you're going for 75/125 FCR or survivability/damage.

Yes, 75 FCR for more damage, 125 for mobility and survivability.

The best build without factoring extremely difficult to find rares is 3 trang pieces.

My build at the start of D2r was the following:

3/20/2 helm (2x facet)
maras
enigma
death web (facet) / cta
trangs shield (facet) / spirit
soj
soj
trangs gloves
trangs belt
aldurs boots or tri res rare

This gives you 75% fcr on your cta side for teleport without sacrificing on damage. You can go 3pnb/10fcr amulet with a fcr ring to get 75% fcr without spirit if you prefer to not switch to your cta/spirit to teleport but your resistances will suffer.

Hypothetically if you didn't go 3/20/2 helm how would you change the build up to hit your BPs?

Would you be using Shako instead? If I was going to use a Shako i'd try to use a fcr amulet and ring so I can get 75% fcr with my Spirit. If you don't plan on hitting 75% fcr with your swap than I would just use full Trangs and scrap Enigma.

Just asking, hypothetically. I don't know that I would use Shako, I suppose I would, but I don't know that i'll have access to a 3/20/2 if I do the build.

It's not mandatory to have a 3/20/2. You can use a 2/20/2 or even a 2/20 circlet with mods. 3/20/2 would be best in slot though. I don't mind the Shako route if you wanted to focus more on mfing

Thanks for the info. I'm always on the fence about putting currency into a necro. I've not down it before so I'd like to eventually.
