Assuming both chars are bm using items like exile, slow items, holy freeze flashing. Who do you see winning more frequently? Skill of both players about same and both have the standard equipment, ex. lifer charms, max/dmg/life, torch, anni, etc.

Advantages of barb:
Higher life
Desynch whirlwind

Advantage of smiter
Much higher defense...
Smite unblockable
-life trap...
