Just started with d2r and almost at lvl 75 and have a sunder. I know i need extra -fire res to really be worthwhile at all and just wondering what the bare minimum might be. Currently rocking the cookie cutter mf build of occy, shako, tals armor/amy/belt, and spirit monarch. Thinking of just putting a -5 facet in each of the armor/helm/weapon. Probably won’t have infinity for merc for a while, so wondering if -15% would be enough. The other option seems to be to just go full tals to get the -15% bonus and also facet everything to get -30, i lose 100 MF in that situation though and doesn’t seem worth it.

Any advice welcome, really just looking to MF some easy terror zones or pits.

3 tal pieces:
Amy
Armor + facet
Orb + facet

Spirit 35
FF -15
Mages
Arach
2x soj
Boots

Fire sunder
Gheed
Torch
Anni

Get 75 fire/light res from scs if needed
No need cold/psn res maxed
No need cta
No need skillers
No need infinity
No need superior items (less repair cost)
The above is basically covering all the mf you need, but you could get a lil more from boots/scs

You get 105fcr
You get 40 fire pen (immunes down to 55% still melt on p1)
Cheap and effective, you wouldn’t notice the difference unless you start playing on higher player count.

Thanks for responding to this one too. When you were saying 3 piece tals i thought you meant the old school tals belt + armor + Amy. That’s an interesting switch, you definitely lose a lot of mf though

belt + armor + amy could work too (it's more standard for cold sorc), but for the fire sorc using the orb instead of belt is giving you a nice 20fire pen (with facet)

this is getting you to 250 mf if you have 40 gheed and 50 wartravs
can add as many 7mf scs you want, the whole inv is empty
but 250mf is seriously fine

knowing what to pick up and what to ignore is the key
most sets/uniques are worthless
this is leaving only very few base items worth dropping above rare quality
and mf has no effect on HRs, charms, craft material, etc

if your goal is to farm a bunch of very common sets/uniques, sure you could try to get more mf
but you'll face a market already over-saturated with those and you'll take forever to sell a 5 fgs item

Wanna farm for profit?
Once you are lvl 89+, farm TZs (TZ 91+ are great)
Use your 3 shared stash like this:
unid gcs (TZ91+ can roll 45 life) and scs
unid rare amys (TZ90+ can roll 2skills), rings, jewels, good rare eth weapon bases
Keep 1 stash for HRs and the few valuable items worth selling individually (not those 5fgs items)
Keep your own stash for well ordered craft material and either craft yourself, or mule them into nice packs of the same type to sell once complete.
People like to gamble, those unid packs can easily sell at ~2fgs per item, they refill fast and they go fast for very easy and constant profit.
Else you can waste all the time you want id'ing stuff, the odds are so low and the time it takes to sell items worth selling is really not as profitable as what I'm telling you here...
So sell those little hot buns packs, sell them at discounted price if you need, your fgs will go up fast and you'll be able to quickly afford what you want instead of indefinitely hoping for it.

You can ignore all that if you just wanna enjoy some casual mfing and id some crap for fun.
Cuz in the end, let's remember that this is a game and the goal is... to have fun, not to work for pennies against armies of bots haha
May RNGesus be with you
Good luck and have fun :)
