I'm not a Jab zon expert, but I think you might want to go with just some Matriarchal Javelin(?).

I see why you ask about Barlog, as they do have a better average damage. But, their speed is much slower.

Looking below, to get Barlog to 13 FPA, you'd need 232 IAS. But, Matriarchal would only need 117.
And, if you really tried to push it, you might get to the 12 FPA breakpoint (lower FPA is better).

And, you get +3 (or more) javalin skills, so some more damage and AR.

Barlog:
232 IAS | 13 FPA

Matriarchal Javelin:
117 IAS | 13 FPA
168 IAS | 12 FPA
280 IAS | 11 FPA

As for other gear, I don't have a build thought out but the main points would be:

• You need 50% DR if you are doing mainly melee duels (COA, Dungos, Stormshield might be useful)
  
• If you got money money, could look into 160ed/60ias armors/shields (which lets you pretty easily hit the 168 IAS breakpoint)
  
• Fort and/or Phoenix might be good picks, if you can get the IAS needed
  
• I think Angelic Ammy + Ring (maybe even 2 rings..) would be very useful, since barbs will have very high armor. But, you might need to go Highlords and Ravens, depending how much IAS you need.
