Hi, I haven't ever really played a classic char. Aside from a necro at one point ive always played expansion.

What gear would be best for a war cry barb in classic?

I don't know what gear is available in classic vs expansion.

My key items in expansions for a basic build were

-2x spirit crystal swords

- frost burns

- mana belt (nightsmoke or rare belt)

-insight



I get the spirits are a no go, and I figured the best alternative for mana and fcr would be dual spectral shards

the frost burns should be fine, same with the night smoke

Not sure about armor, probably a rare with + mana.

Not having a merc/insight shouldnt kill this character, but Idk about the limited mana pool from the lack of spirits.


Any thoughts on gear changes for this build in classic?

Somehow i belive there is no reason to build war cry barb in classic.

Any particular reason it wont work on classic ? I ran my expansion build a good while without insight and only 4 to skills in hell without major issues. I figured this would just be a bit more mana hungry.

because you wont ever get enough +skills in classic off items to make it viable, classic has no runewords and most unique's you're used to seeing aren't available in classic.

Whirlwind is also completely different on classic, it hits on every frame vs 4 and 8 frame checks on expansion, completely different abilities. Ww barbs are god-tier on classic for this reason.

here are ur options to get max all skills between 70/110 fcr:

amulet, rare: +2 barb skiils / +10 fcr

tarnhelm: +1 all skills

silks/berserkers hauberk: +1 all skills/barb skills

rare 1h weapon of ur choice: +2 barb skills / shard +50 fcr
rare 1h weapon of ur choice: +2 barb skills / shard +50 fcr

soj / rare ring +10 fcr
soj / rare ring +10 fcr

magefist: +20 fcr

free belt/boots
