Going to swap my squads merc's with a3 mercs for fun.

I have a Pally with maxed conviction for - res, Additional other pallys with more auras to benefit the squad.

What gear do you think is best for Light/Cold/Fire ?

I imagine Spell damage is the way right?

So perhaps Azuraths for the weapons for sanctuary aura + 1 skills + elemental damage? Ormus with a facet to reach 20% cold dmg? or 4os armors with facets? 4os shield with facets?

will an Ice blast ormus add damage to my merc's ice blast?

Should I use Nightwing for cold merc? Griffon for light merc?

Whatcha guys thinking? anyone know a nerf? haha

I Like sanctuary aura Azurath or Lawbringer offers to knock back undead lol

An ice blast ormus will help the mercs damage (both from +to ice blast and +%cold skill dmg)


That being said…act 3 mercs aren’t gonna kill anything or do any damage.

Some dude posted a pretty cool merc the other day tho:

A5 dual wielding frenzy merc
2x crescent moons for the 7%chance to cast static

I made it on my hc single player berserk barb and its aight.

Oh that static is sweet.

ty about the ice blast question. So +3 Lightning Ormus would add to the lightning a3 merc aswell?

Go with either lightning for AOE or cold for single targets. Lightning does more damage when it actually uses Lightning, but wastes a lot of time casting Charged Bolt (~1700 on Lightning w/ -80% resists). Cold is more consistent and has better defense, but less damage (~1500 on Ice Blast, w/ -60% resists)

1/3 chance to use Lightning, but 2/3 he'll use Charged Bolt.
- 30/30 facets sword
- 20/20 facets shield
- +3 Lightning Ormus with 5/5 facet
- Griffon's with 5/5 facet

1/5 chance to use Glacial Spike, 4/5 chance to use Ice Blast, he'll also have Frozen Armor.
- 30/30 facets sword
- 20/20 facets shield
- +3 Ice Blast Ormus with 5/5 facet
- Nightwing's with 5/5 facet

This is d2, not d2r, a5 mercy can't dual wield. If using a5 merc, eth upped headstriker, fortitude and giant skull with 2 x 15/40 is nice. Google goomshill's thread "pimping out ulf".

A3 merc: Depends on use, sanctuary good for cs runs. Otherwise dual spirit, viper and griffon isn't too bad i guess.

2 Fire , 2 Cold , 2 Light? Or should I just do 3cold/3light?

Fire might suck but perhaps with the cold and light + conviction the combo may be sick? Haha

Fire is by far the worst as he’ll spam Inferno and stop moving. The damage is good on paper, but it’s unusable.

I miss the Gmerc lol. Does the Aura gear hold any purpose anymore? ( Dragon,hoj,dream)

Only if you want to farm in Normal for specific items (lld mostly). You could probably clear cows pretty quickly.
