If you’re using infinity on merc it doesn’t matter. Most your damage comes from frozen orb and it’s Chance on attack, which means as long as you perform the attack, you don’t even need to hit to proc it

I'm gonna first try a procsin build, with rift. Its true that frozen orbs are casting on attack,
but i want to add other pieces that will trigger only on striking, so ar will matter here. (dragon shield, wisp/carrion wind, gloves hellmouth maybe though the % to cast are low (2-4)..maybe even the principle armor lol).
There is the fact that infinity has -%defense. Even if i was the wielder, the character wouldnt show it:
amazonbasin: Chance to hit displayed by the character screen does not take into account reduced defense of monsters.
Also, im not sure if it acts like -resists wich doesnt apply to me.
Stormlash seems the prefered weapon of many players for a kicksin.
Gel: ..atmas, nigma..Idk lol. I'm running fade now most of time cause my res are not so good + i have 50+ ias on gear, so i reach 3/3/3/3/8 cycle. (treachery +gloves or belt).
As i play many melee characters i usually like to just have more "umpf" on my armor. In Sara's thread, no mention of fortitude...Maybe since kickers often use traps also (thats what i do), they like the + skills and if you are running burst of speed, it helps a lot with the resists..
Anyway, I still have to think about your comments guys, and experiment a bit with the build.
