Armor --> Ethereal Wealth
Weapon --> eBotD


What should the base be for eBotD?
I believe these are the four to choose from --> Ghost Spear, Giant Thresher, Great Poleaxe, & War Pike.

I see you are going to use it for goldfinding, i.e. killing council members.. war pike i like best, it deals the most damage, and if you play correctly and stun them often enough, the members will not get in much hits on your merc, leaving him to deal damage mostly unobstructed, meaning the slightly lower attack speed isn't going to be much of a hindrance. Also, botd has +60% ias, meaning his attack rate will be at 6 fps when using jab, 3.57 hits per second, which is fast enough.

Another reason to use war pike, is when you cast amplify damage from gavel of pain on switch, you get advantage from the higher damage which is then doubled. Your merc also has an innate 5% chance to deal critical damage.

Only reason to choose a faster weapon, is when you are counting on crushing blow to lower boss hit points fast.

You are correct, I am using it for goldfinding the council members.

I was reading about the gavel of pain build, looks like a great idea, but my loading times taking waypoints is crazy. So I don't think I will use it because of the repairs and load times.

I was thinking the war pike as well since it had the most damage and I wasn't planning any extra IAS or CB.

I was the one originally coming up with that idea, just to tell you that.. many years ago, i regularly recommended it in this forum.. but i was ridiculed and harassed for it. Just to let you know.

And yes .. the load times on d2r is a known thing ^^ I say, go back to original d2 and preferably demand a refund. I never supported the cash-in scheme that d2r is.

Goldfind barb is very fun .. i think the war pike will be the best choice. You'll see the members just die within 1-2 seconds and the gold just pour out ^^ Give an update too if you feel like it, in a week or two.

Wp is nice, wealth cot maybe not. He's gonna melt any time there's a conviction. Get an eth fort (or coh if you are leaper)

War Pike. And keep a fort handy because it's 10x faster than wealth.

Does Ethereal Great Poleaxe have anything special about it? I noticed a few people elsewhere seem to like it.

Its one of the weapons wolf druids use, and its probably one of those bis dps under certain circumstances things, but warpike > for travincal.


Occasionally you can literally see councils getting one shotted during the jab animation. You shouldn't sweat over it if you already have gp. I went from gt to wp and its really just whatever. Get a fort tho xd
