it's not simple for utility. damage is actually close. How do you figure the act 2 merc has more survivability? that is something that the act 5 has the clear advantage at. just talking about the prayer merc?
Act2 mercs don’t die if built right. Not to mention conviction lowers monsters defense, almost assuring the merc lands it’s hits, therefore leaching. Leaching means more life and thus survivability.
Also given conviction helps your corpses do more damage, thus killing monsters, making less monsters hit your merc because dead monsters do 0 damage.
Not to mention the crushing blow on infinity + conviction (lower Def) helps speed up boss killing, as that is what necs struggle at the most.
